Valentine day! Should be an Issue or a Non-Issue?
How outrageous and reckless to discuss whether to take part in the celebrations of valentine day or not. Those people who object shouldn’t partake and rest should. The day has disapproved by Islamists as an insult to Islam that it is against the Islamic culture. The efforts to stop the activities on 14th February have been riotous from the past many years. Hence, there has seen the conflict between liberal and bigoted groups. But, this is not understandable – why people can’t mind their own business? Why every person tries to drag Islam into everything? This is dismaying to mention, Islam taught the lesson of tolerance and respect towards the religion of others but we are going in opposite direction and waste all our oomph in arguing whether to celebrate 14th feb or not. The celebration shouldn’t be an issue because we are living in a global village and now we are close together to each other so why make it an issue? A dilemma most of us are facing today that we adopted and inspired by western culture. Since culture consists of the virtues which are found in every nation and with the passage of time these virtues become the traditional value. In the case of Pakistan, its culture is very assorted and each social group has its own culture which is gradually diminishing. Since the influence of the western culture that is promoted by media has extended everywhere in the country.
The question arises here is why do they show and promote west culture why the government doesn’t take notice? Why don’t Pakistani traditional media show & promote our own culture? Many numerous questions are raised in this perspective media should uphold own culture instead of the west but I must say that things are going towards opposite directions. Such type of situation only explains that we have nothing to prop up, we like to eat western style food, we like to wear western style even we appreciate it, our lifestyle has totally transformed even we have the Western-style education system. Hence, westernization has impacted so much in our lifestyle that we can not survive without west. Yes!!! This is a bitter truth! ……..Then why we engross ourselves in such baseless argument of its celebration? This is also the tradition of western countries.
Since globalization has impacted a lot in our culture. It has greatly motivated the progress of global social fecund forces and also promotes the development of human civilization. People need to pacify and re-think about the progression of globalization on human civilization that has aroused both positive and negative effects. As it is multidimensional and has affected all the aspects of life. Similarly, different religious events and festivals are celebrated by Muslim, Indians or Sikhs communities. So, this togetherness is another aspect of globalization. Moreover, our wedding traditions, mehndi functions, dance /music all is adopted by Indian culture but we do not make this an issue. This is also adopted by westernized societies. Then why we make valentine day an issue? I think we should not make the issue out of a non-issue!!

Yes it is a non issue if we don’t give important more than anything else….as we are living in information era…but we have a common sense what is good and what is bad. We lucky Allah give perfect ref personality to judge any thing before adopting…just a case vine is haram but while world say…it is not…but…it remain harram. Several others evil things around the world going on but it does not means majority of people doing these thing so it is okay to adapt it… we as Muslim shod remain in the relgiouscircle….
For unity of society we should respect each other and create harmony between religious, but it does not means we adopte their customs and tradition as part of life where we loss our identity.
very well said !!
I truly agree with you.
